Embedded computing leaders congatec and Kontron have announced a collaborative effort to deliver secure, modular embedded platforms. The partnership centers on the integration of KontronOS, a hardened Linux-based operating system, into congatec’s aReady.COM hardware and software building blocks. This integrated solution is designed to simplify the development of applications that must comply with IEC 62443 security standards.
The availability of KontronOS within the aReady.COM portfolio allows customers to utilize application-ready modules that feature a pre-installed and licensed operating system. By combining congatec’s hypervisor technology with KontronOS and KontronAIShield, the solution isolates mission-critical core functions from IoT components to enhance overall system security.
“With KontronOS, we are offering a secure, modular, and standardized platform that will be available across all modules in the long term. It will serve as a foundation for future innovations. At the same time, we are responding quickly to new technological requirements driven by the CRA directive and the evolution of AI. We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with congatec to deliver even more powerful and secure solutions for our customers,” said Hannes Niederhauser, CEO of Kontron.
Dominik Ressing, CEO of congatec, stated: “We are expanding our application-ready embedded computer hardware and software building blocks with the secure KontronOS. This enhancement provides aReady.COM customers with greater flexibility and security. With aReady.COM, customers can bring secure, innovative solutions to market faster, reducing non-recurring engineering costs and total cost of ownership. We are delighted that Kontron is supporting our aReady strategy with KontronOS, and we are excited that this joint solution is now available to our customers.”
The subscription-based KontronOS can be extended with additional modules such as KontronAIShield and KontronGrid. This ecosystem is intended to assist manufacturers in achieving Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) compliance while reducing development costs.
This development builds upon a partnership established in May 2025, which saw both companies pool their computer-on-module expertise. Under the continued agreement, congatec will supply embedded modules to Kontron, granting Kontron access to an expanded portfolio of embedded hardware.
