AMD has successfully tested Infineon’s 64 Mb HYPERRAM memory and its corresponding HYPERRAM controller IP for use with the AMD Spartan UltraScale+ FPGA SCU35 Evaluation Kit. This validation allows the AMD MicroBlaze V soft-core RISC-V processor to utilize the cost-effective, high-bandwidth memory solution.

The combination of the Spartan UltraScale+ FPGAs and HYPERRAM memory forms a robust platform, particularly for applications requiring I/O expansion and board management capabilities. The integrated HYPERRAM controller IP is intended to accelerate the design process for developers by offering a fully featured and proven host memory interface.

The 64 Mb HYPERRAM memory and HYPERRAM controller IP are licensed for the AMD Spartan UltraScale+ FPGA SCU35 Evaluation Kit. The HYPERRAM memory is noted for balancing performance, density, and low power consumption, while the Infineon controller IP functions as the memory interface for the MicroBlaze V processor. HYPERRAM memory utilizes the HYPERBUS technology interface.

Patrick Le Bihan, Senior Director of Ecosystem Marketing at Infineon, stated, “The combination of our HYPERRAM memory and controller IP with AMD Spartan UltraScale+ FPGAs delivers a powerful platform that helps accelerate time to market for our customers.” He added that together, the companies “provide a system solution for embedded AI applications at the edge by delivering features and capabilities that meet the most important requirements of our customers.”

Evan Leal, Director of Product Marketing at AMD, said, “Working with Infineon, we are able to provide developers with a streamlined, high-performance memory solution that simplifies their design process.” He further noted that AMD chose HYPERRAM to “enable a balance of performance and low power consumption with modest pin usage requirements. Infineon’s total solution of hardware and IP helped enable AMD to bring the SCU35 Evaluation Kit to life quickly and enables customers to do the same in their own designs.”

The AMD Spartan UltraScale+ FPGA SCU35 Evaluation Kit is available to order now, with shipping scheduled for January 2026. Infineon HYPERRAM memory and the HYPERRAM controller IP are available now.
